I now mainly sell my art on-line due to the change in the way exhibitors sell works of art. It used to be that they would ask you how much you wanted and then put their commission on top. Now most seem to add an astronomical amount, often more than the artist required, making it unfair for both the customer and the artist. You could have two similar pieces of work at different galleries that are only a few miles away from each other, one may be over a £100 more than the other, which is out of the artists control. Whilst I understand we all need to earn a living, I do like to have an idea of what price my work is being sold.
